Our region is at a pivotal time of growth and renewal. When I speak to people from various sectors, communities and of differing viewpoints the one thing we can agree on is that in order to make a positive and permanent impact it will take involvement from everyone. No matter how insignificant you deem your contribution to be, it is important.
Famed scientist, Dr. Leroy Hood had to adopt a similar mindset when he attempted to get companies to pay attention to his new technologies that would later go on to revolutionize modern biology. His passion never faltered because he believed in his vision. In an interview with the Wall Street Journal Hood said, “Don’t underestimate the power of your vision to change the world. Whether that world is your office, your community, an industry or a global movement, you need to have a core belief that what you contribute can fundamentally change the paradigm or way of thinking about problems.”
We need this same line of thinking as we begin to reshape our region. The conversations are already starting. Tomorrow, we have representatives from more than 150 local organizations – in the corporate, philanthropic and government sectors – coming together to discuss how we can leverage our collective power to challenge and inspire our region. I want to give special thanks to the folks from the following organizations for plugging in by joining us for the conversation tomorrow.
Will you plug in? I hope you’ll consider being part of the movement. Small acts by many players can absolutely be leveraged into a huge impact. Register for this important event today.
